Trang: beautiful beaches, scenic beauty and small villages and villages. The province of Trang is located south of Krabi and has about 200 km of coastline along the Andaman Sea and 46 offshore islands to offer. Twelve of these islands are located in the Kantang district, 13 in the Palian district and 21 in the Sikao district. From the coast, mountain ranges (Banthat Mountains and Khao Luang) are heading towards the interior of the country. There are also various caves and waterfalls to visit. At the individual beach sections partly large boulders protrude into the sea. The beaches are varied and are partly in the Chao Mai National Park. Even off the water, the province has much to offer.

The main source of income of the inhabitants are fishing and rubber plantations.

Along the beaches there are several beautiful bungalow resorts and also slightly larger resorts. Especially beautiful are the Had Yao Beach and the Pak Meng Beach. Close to Had Yao Pier on Chao Mai Beach, Heaven Hill Resort is located on a hill. The hotel offers a beautiful large panoramic terrace with a magnificent view. We spent some nights here to explore the area. Also in the city center of Trang there are very good and really cheap places to stay. Here is The Glasshouse Place near the stadium. The hotel offers very clean and modern rooms and is perfect for transit.

Trang Airport is approximately 7 km outside Trang city center. Since 2016, the three Thai companies Nok Air, Thai Lion Air and Thai AirAsia have combined Don Muang Airport in Bangkok with Trang Airport. 

Transfer from Krabi (Krabi Town / Krabi Airport) to Trang:
Krabi Airport is located approximately 8 km northeast of the center of the provincial capital Krabi. The most convenient option for tourists is the taxi / minivan (for example Andaman taxi) to get to Trang from Krabi or Krabi Town airport. The fare in the private taxi costs from about 2,400 - 3,000 THB. From Krabi Town there is also a public bus several times a day (between 6.20am and 7pm) to Trang. The price from Krabi Town is about 130 THB.

Transfer from Phuket to Trang:
From Phuket Bus Terminal there are several daily buses to Trang, duration approx. 5.5 hours, price from 700 THB.

Arrival from Bangkok:
Trang province is 830 km away from Bangkok.

• The arrival from Bangkok by plane is possible until Trang. Since 2016, the three Thai companies Nok Air, Thai Lion Air and Thai AirAsia have combined Don Muang Airport in Bangkok with Trang Airport. From the airport you can take the taxi or mini bus + ferry to Trang and / or Koh Mook or to other islands.
• From Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal, there are daily buses to Trang. The fare is between 660 and 1030 baht. Depending on traffic, the journey takes between 11 and 13 hours. Due to the air conditioning it gets pretty cold in the buses. It is best to take a warm sweater or jacket with you for the ride. There are 3 different buses at the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok:
• Aircon buses (blue / Express buses from Sappaisal, No. 988 - 3) with approx. 40 seats (660 THB = approx. 16.- EUR)
  
• VIP buses (inscription "VIP Bus 989-2" from Sappaisal) with approx. 24 seats (1,030 THB = approx. 25.- EUR)
• VIP buses (inscription "VIP Bus 988-1" by Sri Suthep) with approx. 24 seats (780 THB = approx. 19.- EUR)

• Trang is connected to Thailand's rail network. The journey time from Bangkok to Trang is approximately 16.5 hours and costs between 800-1500 THB depending on class and travel time.

Arrival from Koh Samui / Koh Phangan / Koh Tao:
Here it is advisable to book a ticket in one of the small travel agencies that are found everywhere in the tourist centers. The travel price includes a pick-up service directly from the hotel. The mini bus continues to the pier and from there by boat / ferry to Surat Thani. From Surat Thani it is 5 hours by bus and ferry to Trang.

Arrival from mainland Tailand (for example Khao Lak, Takua Pa, Ranong):
Again, you can book the pick-up service directly from the hotel again. With the mini bus it goes on to the respective bus station and from there with a larger bus to the "bus station" in Phuket Town or Phuket Airport and from there further in the direction of Trang. The journey takes between 12 and 15 hours.

Arrival from mainland Tailand (for example Pattaya, Hua Hin):
From here it is best to book a plane ticket to Trang, Krabi or Phuket (via Bangkok). Again, you can book a pick-up service directly from the hotel. The (mini) bus continues to the "Bus Station" in Don Muang Airport in Bangkok and from there to Trang by plane.

The bus routes between Phuket - Trang, Phuket - Krabi and Phuket - Khao Lak are served by public buses. Here the fare is much cheaper, but is stopped at many stops.

Piers to get from Trang to Koh Mook:
Trang has several small piers:
Had Yao Pier - long tail at 1pm. about 900 THB
Kuan Tung Ku Pier - Longtails from 250 THB, speedboat from 500 THB
Pak Meng Pier - private speedboat
Small long-tail boats, speed boats and larger long-tail transport boats (supply boats) operate several times daily from these piers.

Trang province has much to offer not only along the coast. Towards the interior there are 2 larger mountain ranges, along which there are national parks u.a. to visit with caves and waterfalls.

Thung Khai Botanic Garden: Through the park, various trails and bridges run through dense rainforest. There are various species of birds and monkeys as well as typical forests to see. On the Nature Trail you can see many ferns, mushrooms and wild orchids. In addition, the park offers a camping area.

Khao Chong National Park: The park is located about 21 km east of the city of Trang. The park offers nature trails along dense rainforest and various waterfalls.

Khlong Lamchan Park: The park is approximately 17 km from the town of Trang. There are several larger lakes in the park, with a larger duck population from January to March. Likewise, the park is a bird sanctuary.

Hot Springs at Kantang Hot Spring Forest Park 35 km southwest of Trang. In the park there are river basins and fountains with hot spring water and a paved trail through the adjacent forest

The Chao Mai Cave is located in the national park of the same name. Through the cave a footpath leads partially over wooden ladders. Inside you can find stalactites. Other cave parts can be reached by canoe.

temples:
In the province of Trang there are various temples worth seeing - a kind of "Buddha Trail". Especially beautiful is the "Tham Phra Buddha Cave" east of Huai Yot.

In Wat Khao Phra Yod near Huai Yot, there is the tomb of an abbot in a golden open pagoda adorned with Buddha figures. A few steps along the Khao Phra Yod Mountain leads to a platform that offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area.

Had Chao Mai Beach
The beach is at the head of a headland southwest of Trang. Upstream is the island of Koh Libong.

Had Yao Beach
The beach is located southwest of Trang. Large rock formations reach into the sea here. The beach is around 5 km long and wide. From Had Yao Beach you have views of the islands of Koh Libong, Koh Kradan and Koh Mook (Koh Muk). The back of the beach is wooded. Along the road 5010 there are some hotels / bungalows as well as restaurants.

Had Yong Ling
The stand is framed in boulders that jut out into the sea. On the back there is a visitor center and a national park administration. Here you will find a coniferous forest on the back of the extensive beach. There are free-living monkeys on the beach and in the adjacent national park.

Had San
This beach is not suitable for swimming. Here the coniferous forest (ua.Kasuranien) grows into the beach. When the waves swell, some parts of the coast are removed and the sand is washed into the sea. In other places, the beach is a bit wider.

Chao Mai Beach
There is another beach called Chao Mai, which is located in the national park of the same name. The coastline here is about 20 km. At the southern tip of the beach is the Khao Bae Na headland that juts out into the sea. The peculiarity of the Chao Mai National Park are Dugongs (a kind of manatees) which graze only here off the coast of Trang in the sea. The park is also home to a large number of different species of birds. Through the park, the highway 4008 leads to the Chang Lang Bridge.

Had Chang Lang
After the Chang Lang Bridge in northern direction follows the Chang Lang Beach. Here you will find the typical coniferous forest of the region. Along the beach there are some fisherman's cottages and boats (longtails). At the northern end, just before the bridge over the Hla River, the Anantara Sikao Resort is a slightly larger hotel and the Sea Bees Diving School (diving school)

Pak Meng Beach
North of Hla Bridge begins Pak Meng Beach. The road 4162 leads a long way along the beach. Much of the area has a terraced promenade. Here you have views of many offshore islands and can be reached at various points on stairs to the beach. This is mostly covered with shells. Further north there are some resorts, cafes and restaurants along the beach promenade. Here is the beach again natural and not attached and also a little fine-grained. In the restaurants you can sit on the beach front. At the northern end of Pak Meng Beach is the Pak Meng Dock - a small harbor - which leads to the offshore islands. Here are also some shops, souvenir shops and travel agencies.
